What's New in 2022

Supplemental Medical Coverage

Available through PittPerks, MetLife is offering supplemental medical coverage with accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance. This employee-paid coverage would serve as a supplemental policy to complement your UPMC insurance provided by the University (or other existing coverage).

Enrollment in this optional coverage only takes place during the Benefits Open Enrollment period from April 25 through May 27 via PittPerks; enrollment for these voluntary benefits does not take place in Pitt Worx.

The supplemental medical coverage is only available to active employees.

Life Insurance Plan Enhancements

The 2022-2023 Benefits Open Enrollment features several plan enhancements to life insurance coverage offered through The Hartford. These enhancements are only available during the Open Enrollment period, which takes place April 27 through May 25, 2022.

These plan enhancements are only available to:

  • Full-time regular faculty, librarians, research associates, postdoctoral associates
  • Part-time regular, tenured/tenure-stream faculty at not less than 50% effort
  • Part-time regular librarians designated with expectations of continued employment at not less than 40% effort
  • Postdoctoral scholars
  • Full- and part-time regular staff
