Employee and Labor Relations provides proactive assistance to staff, supervisors, and HR professionals regarding conflicts, University policies and procedures, and staff performance, among other issues or questions that may come up in the workplace.

Faculty & Staff with Disabilities

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities in employment practices. The ADA also requires that employers provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities, so long as it does not impose an undue hardship on the employer.

ADA Guidance for Employees (Faculty & Staff)

To establish disability and request workplace accommodations on the basis of disability, please follow the required steps below:

  1. Complete the Employee Accommodation Application (login required).
  2. Upload documentation of your disability. DRS will review all formats of documentation submitted. You will receive an email indicating receipt of your employee accommodation application and documentation.
  3. Your application will be assigned to a Disability Specialist who will review your application and contact you regarding the next steps in the process.

Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) is a United States federal law requiring larger employers to provide employees job-protected unpaid leave due to a serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform his or her job, or to care for a sick family member, or to care for a new child (including by birth, adoption or foster care).

Staff Handbook
