Announced on August 13, 2026, Pitt was listed among the 100 best employers in the commonwealth, ranking number five in Pennsylvania's education industry.

“This listing marks the sixth year Pitt has been included as a destination employer in Pennsylvania, and we are so proud to again be recognized as a place people not only want to come work, but to build lifelong careers,” said James W. Gallaher Jr., vice chancellor for human resources.

“While this public recognition is surely appreciated, what’s most important is knowing that our employees consider Pitt an employer of choice. That’s something we’ve committed to in the Plan for Pitt, and we’re continuing to make the University a more engaging and welcoming workplace where every employee thrives.”

Now in its eighth year, the Forbes list highlights employers creating positive workplaces where employees can succeed. Forbes partners with the market research firm Statista to compile the rankings, surveying more than 160,000 employees to identify organizations with positive work environments and sustainable growth. Respondents identify how likely they are to recommend their own workplace and other organizations in their industry. Pitt was previously included on this list in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025.
