Finding and Applying for Student Employment

Talent Center, the University's online employment system, lists current employment opportunities for Pitt students.

Two types of student opportunities are available via Talent Center: positions available to any enrolled student and positions available only to Federal Work Study (FWS) students. FWS students receive federal funding as part of their financial aid package. If you have questions about FWS funding, please visit the Office of Admissions & Financial Aid website.

Students may work no more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (fall and spring terms). During the summer term or University recess periods, students may work no more than 37.5 hours per week. Opportunities are available to full-time or part-time Pitt students who are enrolled in an ongoing course of study and taking at least six (6) credits worth of classes.

Finding and Applying for a Student Position

All Pitt student employment opportunities are listed on Talent Center, the University's online employment system. All student employment opportunities can be found in the dedicated Student portal. Access the student portal by visiting www.join.pitt.edu and selecting "Students" from the "Find Positions" drop-down menu. You will need to login with your Pitt username and password to access the portal.

Student opportunities vary daily, and each position includes a job description and requirements. Some positions require a résumé and cover letter. Contact the Office of Career Development & Placement Assistance for assistance with requirements before applying. To apply for a position, select the "Apply" button on the position to start the application process.

After you submit your application, the hiring department will have immediate online access to your application and will contact you if you are selected for an interview. An official job offer will be made once you have been selected for hire.
