New AVC leadership role; Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) gets a new name!

The team behind Pitt's Human Resources technology platforms that support all Pitt employees is undergoing its own major upgrades with a new leadership structure, an enhanced team makeup, a new web page, and a brand-new name!

Vice Chancellor for Human Resources James Gallaher Jr. is proud to announce that, effective May 1, former Human Resources Information Systems Director Jason Killmeyer has accepted the newly created role of Assistant Vice Chancellor of Customer Support, Data and Technology

Jason is a longtime Pitt employee, having joined us in 2005 as a Human Resources Administrator. In 2013, he moved into the position of HR Project and Data Manager before becoming HR Information Systems Director in 2020. He is also a proud Pitt graduate, having received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 2000. Congratulations to Jason!

In his new role, Killmeyer will oversee our HR Shared Services Department, which continues to be led by HRSS Director Laura Schmid. He will continue to lead the team formerly known as Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), which moving forward will be known as our HCM Solutions team.

HCM (Human Capital Management) is the industry name for the Oracle technology powering our Office of Human Resources (OHR) systems; from benefits, personnel data and payroll to solutions that help attract, retain, and advance our people. This dedicated team of developers and analysts connects our people through technology, providing foundational strength through technological solutions.

"Our new name better reflects the systems we support and the important collaborative work we do providing solutions benefitting all University employees," Killmeyer said.

In December, Vice Chancellor Gallaher announced that, as part of the University’s One IT@Pitt initiative, the OHR technology team and a development team from Pitt Information Technology would integrate into one group supporting our Pitt Worx and Talent Center technologies, as well as other OHR systems. Jason Killmeyer is overseeing this integrated group, serving as a key liaison between OHR and Pitt IT. HCM Solutions Manager John Scifo continues to oversee the development team, and a new HCM Solutions Manager, Aleksandra Arsic, started on April 22nd and will lead the analyst team. Both managers will report to Killmeyer.

"This arrangement will not only strengthen the bonds between the two departments, but also enhance our overall organizational efficiency," Gallaher said.

In another change implemented to better align OHR technology and customer service to our strategic goals, Gallaher is announcing the supervisory move of the Data Team from HR Shared Services to the HCM Solutions Team. The move in late June of eight current positions, plus a data team manager to be hired, will integrate all OHR technology support services under HCM Solutions.
