Health Services for Students

Student Wellness

The University of Pittsburgh provides access to a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and recreation services that promote student well-being and engagement. The Wellness and Recreation Support Fee all students pay supports the following departments and services: 

Campus Recreation 

  • Access to the new Recreation & Wellness Center (RWC), featuring: 
    • Pool, climbing wall, sky track, and multi-purpose courts 
    • State-of-the-art fitness equipment and recreation spaces 
  • Participation in intramural and club sports, esports, and outdoor/adventure programs 
  • Access to fitness programs, group exercise classes, and wellness events 

Student Health Services 

  • Access to on-campus healthcare providers in an outpatient clinic 
  • Annual flu vaccines, rapid HIV testing 
  • Visits with a registered dietitian 
  • Stress Free Zone programs and wellness resources 
  • Student Health Services bills insurance for services rendered. This fee does not provide or pay for student health insurance. 

University Counseling Center 

  • On-campus access to licensed psychologists, counselors, and social workers 
  • Individual and group counseling sessions at no additional cost 
  • Health education and well-being programs focused on stress management and resilience 
  • Note: Psychological assessment services are offered for an additional fee 

While many services are fully covered by the Wellness and Recreation Support Fee, some offerings such as certain medical visits, psychological assessments, or specialized programs may incur additional costs. 

Regional Student Health Services

Regional campuses also offer student health services through offices staffed by health care professionals. Students may use these offices for initial assessment and treatment of routine illnesses and injuries.
