Permanent Flex Work Policy Implemented

The Interim Flexible Work Arrangement (IFWA), has been converted to a permanent policy to further meet the needs of and afford greater flexibility to our employees.

This new Flexible Work Agreement (FWA) policy, effective October 2, 2023, demonstrates the University's commitment to supporting employees' work-life balance, efficient management of space and resources, employee recruitment and retention, sustainability initiatives, and financial management.

As with the IFWA, the new FWA policy allows employees to request the ability to work remotely or on a modified schedule. However, the new policy simplifies the process and makes it easier for employees, supervisors, and departments to manage and maintain FWAs.

Understanding and Implementing the FWA Policy and Procedures

Resources are available on SharePoint (via Pitt Passport) for employees, supervisors, and RC heads to further understand the FWA policy and procedures and how to implement the policy in their area.

This SharePoint section includes an overview of the policy, details the procedures and forms, and provides additional resources for frequently asked questions and who to contact in certain situations.

The University community is also encouraged to review the new policy on the Policy Development and Management website.
