Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh! This onboarding information applies to all individuals joining the University in a compensated capacity, including Staff, Faculty, Students, Academic Appointees, Certificates, All-Temps, and Temporary employees, regardless of union representation status or campus location.
Represented individuals should also refer to their collective bargaining agreement for additional information specific to their employment.
Note: Individuals at Pitt's regional campuses should also work with their campus's Human Resources Department for any additional or campus-specific requirements.
Formally Accept Your E-Offer
Your initial new hire "paperwork" takes place in Talent Center, the University's system for hiring and onboarding employees. After accepting a verbal offer from the University, you will receive an email with instructions to formally accept an E-Offer and complete other onboarding tasks. To log in, use the same username and password you used to complete your application.
Complete Your Child Protection Clearances (If Needed)
Child Protection Clearances are required for new and current employees who will have direct and/or routine contact with children under 18 years of age, provided these children are not subject to an exception. You will be notified if you are required to have your Child Protection Clearances as a term of your employment.
Any employee—new or current—moving into a position, assignment, or appointment that requires Child Protection Clearances must have these clearances submitted and approved before starting in that role. This includes current employees transferring to a new position, assignment, or appointment, even if clearances were not required in their previous role.
Complete Your Form I-9
New employees and rehires to the University must complete a Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification required by the federal government.
- Section 1 of the Form I-9 must be completed prior to your first day of employment.
- Section 2 of the Form I-9 must be completed no later than three business days after your first day of employment (you may complete Section 2 of the Form I-9 prior to your first day of employment, too).
- Please review the list of acceptable documents required to complete Section 2 of your Form I-9.
If you do not complete Section 2 of your Form I-9 within three business days, you will not be authorized to return to work until it is completed. Complete instructions for the Form I-9 are on the Human Resources website. Navigate to Talent Center to complete required forms.
