Pitt Welcomes New Director of Compensation

The Office of Human Resources is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Tamanini as Director of Compensation, effective March 30, 2026. In this role, Christopher will oversee the daily operations of the Compensation Department and lead a range of strategic compensation initiatives. He will collaborate closely with University leadership and Human Resources to develop, implement, and sustain compensation policies and practices that support the University’s mission and institutional priorities.

Christopher brings more than 25 years of progressive experience in human resources leadership. Throughout his career, he has held senior-level roles with broad organizational impact. Known for his consultative, innovative, and strategic approach to human resources, Christopher has a demonstrated track record of advancing organizational effectiveness, optimizing talent, and driving measurable results. Some of his professional accomplishments include: a transition to best practice compensation strategies to improve retention, assisting in establishing a shared services center of excellence, and branding and promoting total rewards programs effectively.  Most recently, he served as Director of Compensation at Pittsburgh Regional Transit.

He holds a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration from Duquesne University, as well as certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources.  Christopher is a professional member of the Society for Human Resources Management, and World at Work.

Christopher lives in Zelienople, PA with his wife of 17 years Rachel, his 13-year-old daughter Lilliana, his 11-year-old son Paul, and his 3-year-old son Henry.  He loves spending time with family, enjoying great restaurants, the outdoors, and watching movies.

Christopher is a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
