Interest Survey: Child/Dependent Care Services for Faculty, Staff, and Students

To further our support of the University community, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) is exploring dependent care services for faculty, staff, and students. OHR is considering a variety of options for those on the Pittsburgh campus and at the regional campuses, but we need to know the scope of interest prior to deciding.

To better understand your potential interest in these services and to understand possible need, please complete this form no later than December 18, 2020: https://pitt.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1WX9Fi9u5nn7M6F

Conveying your interest will allow us to communicate with you quickly and directly as resources are made available. By completing the form, you are not committing to register or pay for services by signing up, nor is the University obligated to provide these or other services.

Some of the childcare services that are being considered include:

  • Proctoring center for children ages 6 to 12 years
This service would be available in Oakland for children of Pitt faculty, staff, and students who are attending school remotely or are in a hybrid format due to COVID-19. Service would be available from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with rigid drop-off and pick-up hours to support safety and health screenings. The cost would be approximately $5 per hour, with a minimum commitment of one day per week. Children would be required to bring all school equipment, materials, and food. The center would have strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols, including masking and physical distancing requirements.

  • Back-up dependent care
This service would provide a defined amount of time per year (e.g., 16 hours) for care of Pitt faculty, staff, and graduate student dependents. There would be a low co-payment for users of the service. They would use a tool to select and book a provider from a list of vetted and available providers.

If you are interested in any of these services, we again ask that you please complete this form no later than December 18, 2020: https://pitt.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1WX9Fi9u5nn7M6F

For those who want to connect to existing services and resources in the community, we encourage you to review the childcare resources page on the Office of Human Resources’ website.
