COVID-19 Pandemic: For University Staff

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing on behalf of the Office of Human Resources in conjunction with Chancellor Gallagher’s announcement on the current situation regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. Thank you for your patience as we work to bring you the most up-to-date information concerning this situation.

As a recap, the academic transition for all students at Pitt will not impact the state of facilities on campus; daily operations will continue unless stated otherwise. However, it is in your best interest to prepare for any changes as this is a rapidly changing circumstance.

Considering the rapidly changing circumstances, we are in the process of determining whose presence is critical for supporting the conduct of business, and those who could potentially support operations remotely. If it is determined that your presence is not required physically on any campus, please work with your supervisor to discuss a flexible remote work arrangement to keep yourself and your colleagues safe during this time.

As a reminder, use your best judgment when deciding whether to come into the office or work from home. Do not come into work if you are feeling sick in the interest of the health and safety of the entire Pitt community.

If you have not already, please sign up for ENS notifications and explore emergency.pitt.edu/covid19 for information regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as general health and safety guidelines.

We will continue to bring you updates as necessary.

Thank you for your attention and prompt response,

David N. DeJong
Vice Chancellor, Office of Human Resources
