Fiscal Year 2027 Budget: Salary Considerations

Earlier today, Pitt’s Board of Trustees approved the University’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget, which includes funds for a 2% across-the-board, performance-based maintenance salary increase for all eligible nonrepresented faculty and staff, as defined below.

The budget also includes a 0.5% pool of total salary funding per Responsibility Center (RC) which will be available to address Merit, Market and Equity (MME) considerations as detailed below.

RCs are expected to remain within 2.5% of their total salary roster when combining the across-the-board increase and the MME pool allocation.Increases beyond the 2.5% for staff additional duties or equity adjustments should be handled outside the Annual Increase Process with an Oct. 1 or later effective date and processed after Sept. 7, once annual increases are loaded into Pitt Worx.

Salary Increase Specifics for Nonrepresented Faculty and Staff:

  • Performance-based maintenance increases: All eligible nonrepresented faculty and staff members who performed at a successful level or higher during the last year will receive a 2.0% increase. Successful staff performance is defined through the Annual Performance Management program. Successful faculty performance is defined through the Annual Review process.

  • Merit, market and equity-based increases: A separate compensation pool of 0.5% has been allocated based on Responsibility Center (RC) salary budget levels. This pool is available for optional merit-based adjustments, which includes performance above expectations, along with addressing market competitiveness and ensuring equitable compensation across our workforce, as well as continued equity considerations, at the discretion of RC leadership.

Salary increases or any relevant adjustments will be included in the Sept. 30 (if paid monthly) or  Sept. 18 (if paid biweekly), but will retroactively take effect as of July 1, 2026. All nonrepresented employees should receive a notification in advance from their department confirming their FY27 salary rate.
