Pregnancy and Healthy Child
Fertility Assistance
UPMC Health Plan will cover medically necessary services, as set forth in the Certificate of Coverage, related to the diagnosis and treatment of infertility in accordance with UPMC Health Plan policies and procedures. Paid Parental Leave
The University supports the importance of providing assistance to its staff members who become new parents through the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. As part of this commitment, the University provides Paid Parental Leave to eligible staff members. Find information on the Leaves page and click "Paid Parental Lead".
Autism Spectrum Disorders Coverage
The UPMC medical benefit plans cover all eligible members under the age of 21 for the diagnostic assessment and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders. Please visit the Health & Welfare page and select your employee classification to review the covered services, definitions, and procedures.
Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) can be used for pregnancy, prenatal care, childbirth, care for one's child after birth, adoption or foster care placement along with other medical needs.
University Child Development Center
The University Child Development Center is a University-operated facility meeting the childcare and early childhood education needs of the children belonging to staff, faculty and students.
Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account
The Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Account can be used to reimburse expenses for a child or other dependent who requires care while you work or go to school full-time. Falk Laboratory School
Falk Laboratory School is an independently operated K–8 school affiliated with Pitt's School of Education. Scholarships, worth up to one-quarter tuition, are available to dependent children of regular full-time faculty, librarians, and staff of the University of Pittsburgh.
All staff members, as well as faculty members who have recently transitioned from part-time to full-time status, are subject to a 12-month waiting period. Children of University employees are admitted through the regular admissions process. Please visit the Falk website for details.
