The dental plan includes a defined network of providers that features the providers from University Dental Health Services on the Pittsburgh Campus. Davis Vision offers a vision plan with comprehensive coverage at a reasonable cost.

Health and Wellness Coverage: UPMC Health Plan

The General Student Medical Plan is available to:

  • No pre-existing condition limitations
  • No annual benefit maximum
  • Primary Care Physician: $30 copayment per visit for illness/injury
  • Specialist: $40 copayment per visit
  • Urgent care: $40 copayment per visit
  • Emergency Room: $75 copayment per visit
  • Inpatient hospital stay: Covered 90% after $250 copayment
  • Pharmacy: $15 generic/$35 preferred brand/$70 non-preferred brand
  • Out of network coverage is provided at a lower benefit level
  • $250/$500 Family Deductible

Important Information about Rate Schedules

In order to keep coverage affordable for families with children in the 2022-2023 plan, the University is providing subsidies to offset the total cost of the monthly child, children, and family premium for graduate students with an academic appointment. The subsidies are reflected in the premium charts in the Student Health Insurance Summary Guide and on the OHR website.

Alternative Coverage for Your Dependents (CHIP)

Alternative coverage may be available for your dependents through Pennsylvania's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). CHIP may be able to provide free or reduced-cost coverage for those that qualify.

Dental Coverage: United Concordia

The General Dental Plan is available to:
