Language Arts
Verbal communication, reading readiness skills including upper/lower case letter recognition, written alphabet, letter
sounds, rhyming, sequencing, opposites, word recognition, and use of a wide variety of reading materials.
Science
Graphing, predication, weights, measurements, magnification, magnetism, sorting, categorization, comparison, planning,
cooking projects, natural science including tadpole/frog and caterpillar/butterfly development, ant colonization, and
plants & animals.
Creative Expression
Introduction to a wide variety of materials, art supplies, felt board props, music, and dramatic play.
Mathematics
Shape-patterning, number recognition, work jobs, measurement, use of basic operations in solving number problems, and
writing of numerals.
Small Motor Development
Writing, cutting, drawing, clay modeling, manipulative play, and computer keyboard manipulation.
Large Motor Development
Coordination, basic, game skills, eye-hand skills, throwing, catching, and bike-riding (two wheel).
Social Studies
Sense of the world around them; study of self, immediate family and neighborhood; maps, globes, cultural
similarities and differences.
Social/Emotional Development
Cooperation, involvement in small and large group activities, following directions, attention span, work habits,
participation, self confidence, self-control, conflict resolution, independence, recognition of individual strengths,
ability to solve problems, motivation, persistence, and handling of disappointment.
Other Interests
Computers, specific interest areas such as dinosaurs, outer space, bugs,
