New Rule on Overtime Pay

On May 18, 2016 the Department of Labor (DOL) has announced the approval of a change to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).  The new law will become effective on December 1, 2016. 

The update is intended to provide greater clarity for workers and employers, including higher education institutions, and is expected to extend protections to over 4.2 million workers nation-wide.

The Office of Human Resources has been working to analyze and prepare for this update since its initial proposal in July 2015 and continues to work to understand and assess the impact of the new legislation.
