1) Temporary Office Support Category

The Temporary Office Support Category includes the following jobs:

Please indicate on your resume/cover letter which jobs interest you. If you do not identify particular jobs that interest you then an Employment Specialist will match your skill set to a current or upcoming opportunity.

  • Clerical/Administrative Support - Performs a variety of entry-level to advanced clerical tasks, which may include: receptionist duties, filing, photo-copying, cashiering, errands, etc.
  • Secretary - Performs intermediate or advanced secretarial support to an organizational unit, and can include: manuscript, grant or statistical typing, transcription from notes or Dictaphone tapes, familiarity with various computer packages, including spreadsheets and word processing, organizational ability with arranging meetings and travel plans, and in some cases knowledge of scientific or medical terminology.
  • Data Entry - Enters basic or complex data into a computer system via keyboard terminal.
  • Administrator - Provides professional and administrative assistance which may include coordinating a variety of activities and participating in special projects.
  • Technical Support - Serves in a technical support capacity in all areas of research or systems management.
  • Financial Support - Applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of fiscal control and reporting. Maintains various accounting records and prepares financial and other related reports.
2) Temporary Maintenance Worker/Cleaner Category

  • Participates in the general maintenance and/or repair of buildings, furniture and equipment, as well as indoor and outdoor custodial duties. *All maintenance positions require completion of a criminal background check, and most require the ability to work nights (approx. 11pm to 7am).
3) Temporary Medical Support Category

***The University has a close affiliation with UPMC Health System and other clinical, medical, dental and research facilities.

  • Research - Positions in research are as varied as the studies they support, but common titles include Research Specialist, Laboratory Assistant, Animal Care Technician, Data Assistant, Interviewer, Clinic Coordinator, and Statistician. The minimum educational requirement for some entry-level research positions is a high school diploma or GED, but most range from an associate’s to a bachelor's degree with some related work experience.
  • Medical Secretary - Entry-level medical coding, analyzing medical records and front end receptionist work in clinical settings. Medical Terminology is needed for most medical assistant temporary requests.
  • Health Professional - Within these areas are various professional positions including Nurses, Physician Assistants, and Pharmacists. In addition to college degrees, these positions require appropriate certification or licensure.
  • Dental Assistant - Chair-side assisting, following OSHA and HIPAA guidelines, maintaining and dispensing inventory and instrument cassettes, maintaining patient records, scheduling follow-up visits, collecting fees and co-pays, ordering supplies, and miscellaneous clerical duties. This position requires completion of a formal dental assisting program and/or 2 years of experience in dental assisting. Must be licensed to take and develop radiographs.
